Renovation of Fine Arts Theatre uncovers details of an architectural treasure
The Office of University Architects and the department of theatre and film studies are breathing life back into the Fine Arts Theatre with a $3.25 million renovation of the one-of-a-kind architectural treasure. The facility will be modernized and restored to its former glory, according to Scott Messer, a historic preservationist in the architects' office and project manager for the renovation. "This space benefits drama, the performing arts and the community at large," said Messer.

Interdisciplinary artist Zachary Lieberman to visit UGA March 16-20
Ideas for Creative Exploration(ICE), an interdisciplinary initiative for advanced research in the arts at the University of Georgia, will host Zachary Lieberman during an exhibition and week-long residency on the university campus. The exhibit and residency are supported by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts. Lieberman's work uses technology in a playful and enigmatic way to explore the nature of communication and the delicate boundary between the visible and the invisible.

Women's History Month observance focuses on female environmentalists
In conjunction with the 2009 national Women's History Month theme "Women: Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet," UGA's Institute for Women's Studies will sponsor events, films and lectures throughout March. The keynote event will be symposium March 20-21 in honor of Val Plumwood, the late Australian and leading contributor in the development of ecofeminism and radical environmental philosophy.
