1984 6 Song EP
I've had couple requests for "Waltzing Mathilda" so here it is. From the 1986 LP "Rebel Shoes". Bob Hay - vocals and guitar, Mark Cooper Smith - drums, Diana Torell - piano, Ken Starratt - guitar, Juan Molina - bass; and featuring Andy Carlson on fiddle, George Norman on mandolin, Joel Cordle on mandola, and John Keane on the pump organ intro. (Posted Feb. 17, 2010.)
Due to the occasional request to provide MP3s of Squalls material (most of which was recorded in pre-digital days), I finally hooked up a tape deck to my computer and recorded what you see here. By chance I pulled a tape out of my box of old cassettes and upon listening I realized how much better we performed live than we did in the studio. That is why I have decided to provide these songs from one of our live shows instead of any of the material from our LPs. Our EP and single are still available on the left.
NOTES: The Squalls used to swap instruments a lot. The usual line-up was Bob and Ken on guitars, Al on bass, Diana on keyborad and percussion, and Mark on drums. In the Valentines 1985 set, that is how we play except 6 and 7 where Diana plays drums and Mark plays guitar and Ken play keyboards; and 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 where Bob plays bass and Al plays guitar and/or saxophone. All songs by Bob Hay, except 3, 10 and 12 by Diana Torell.

KS, a blogger at the 1,000,000 miles way blog says "Iíll go farther than that, this is one of the best songs to come out of Athens, GA ever. Top 10." So here it is: Bride of Frankenstein. Just one person's opinion, but still appreciated.
From 1981 - 1989 the Squalls rocked Athens and made several tours of the South, the Midwest, and East coast cities including several shows at New York city clubs CBGB, Danceteria, and Peppermint Lounge. They released 4 recordings and were included in the 1986 movie "Athens Georgia Inside Out".
